The members work in their own specialized field in producing films, music and installations.

Thank you for granting us the Encouragement Prize. Just as there is the term of "entertainment computing," we take a different approach from that of media art and interactive art. We constantly ask ourselves the meaning of entertainment and try to produce media design from a new approach. Underlying our concept is the desire to present a participation-type media, which all people can enjoy and be moved, and have their creativity stimulated. atMOS is committed to this goal. We wish to continue creating more works with this award as a stimulus.

Communication via mobile phone and dancing at a club are daily events for most young people at present. The reason why they enjoy such popularity probably lies in their convenience and ease as a means to communicate with other people and express themselves. This work fuses these features into one at a higher level. It is a hands-on type of attraction via dancing, and the movie created by a user could also be transmitted via mobile phone. By combining personal self-expression and communication based on it, this work enables them to go beyond the characteristics of each behavior and suggests the unprecedented potential for entertainment.

What kind of medium did you choose for your work when the first time you were aware of your "creation"?
And, how old were you and what did you make?
I was about 3 years old when I made my first robot.
Do you have any consistent subject matter or theme through your works?
I would like to grow personally and expand the possibilities.
Things exist between the front and back. The antinomy. The things that can't be cut clearly. The vagueness.
When do you feel the connection with the technology in your creative activity?
What is the difference of the sense of Media Art from the one of traditional fine art?
When I choose the technology as the material, I already have a connection with the technology. The similarity between media art and fine art is that they both include aspects of self-expression and take the shape of thoughts. The differences between the two are whether there is the concept of layers, and there is the possibility of reconstruction in terms of repetition and modification.
How does your choice of medium affect on your works?
In another words, what kind of expression does your choice of medium allow you to make?
The medium improves the quality of the work and the speed of the embodiment of the thoughts. But everything depends on what is inside the artist.
Do you feel that your theme of your works and the digital art will change along with the shift of the society?
Designing the media is our main purpose, so I think the surface keeps changing due to the users of our works.
What kind of field you are best at in your works?
And how do your works fit within and affect on this society?
The methods of design, the process of the design, the entertainment aspect.
Our work is for everybody and excellent in the emergence.
What kind of situation in every day life do you get inspired most?
When we communicate with things and language. Having a conversation with someone I respect and communication with the work of someone I respect.
What kind of vision do you have in your future development as the creator?
We would like to commit to designing existing media and seek the entertainment characteristics in them.
Please name of the people or phenomena that you have got most influenced by as the creator.
