[Art Division]
Subdivided into installations, interactives, visual images, still images, and web works, about 80 works are exhibited in the Art Division. We show works such as 3 minutes2 with the images projected into a three-dimensional space, telling a story about a man and a woman, and GLOBAL BEARING enabling users to virtually move the earth.
[ Entertainment Division ]
An exhibition of about 40 works representing games, visual images, CMs, electronic play equipments, and web works includes WarioWare: Twisted!!, the game player housing a motion sensor inside and enabling users to play games by rotating the machine, and PICTOCHAT, a communication device linked with NINTENDO DS. In addition to the 15 various works including "Onimusha 3" Opening Cinematics, the opening images for a game software program, the YKK AP EVOLUTION CM, and Cherry-Clouds, an independent CG animation, we have a special showing of Mobile Suite Gundam, MS IGLOO the Hidden One-Year War.
Mini-theater is set up to screen all Award-winning Works and Recommended Work.
[ Animation Division ]
We exhibit about 25 outstanding animations of various genres ranging from films that have been played at public theaters, TV series, and Original Video Animations, to independent short animations. Also 14 short animations including BIRTHDAY BOY, highly acclaimed at international events such as SIGRAPH and Ars Electronica, the music video ACIDMAN short film SAI/Revolving.to the core, and DREAM with a special emphasis on colloquial drama, will be shown. All six films of Original Video Animations and TV series are shown. MAKASETE IRUKA! featuring the vibrant daily life of the three sisters, is one of them. All five films that have been played at public theaters can be viewed here. The lineup includes MIND GAME with the Grand Prize, APPLESEED, GHOST IN THE SHELL 2: INNOCENCE, STEAMBOY. Mini-theater is set up to screen all Award-winning Works and Recommended Wokrs.
[Manga Division]
We present story mangas, short-scene mangas, independent mangas and online mangas. YUNAGI NO MACHI SAKURA NO KUNI, one of the story mangas, depicts a woman's daily life and feelings after the atom bomb was dropped. All mangas and the original artworks can be viewed. Also, mangas edited by YAMAMOTO Junya, the winner of this year's Special Achievement Prize, are exhibited.
This special exhibition features past Award-winning artists who have adopted cutting edge technology. The event provides artists with the opportunity to introduce their new works using the latest three-dimensional display technology. Also, a new challenge in realizing interactive communication between a real robot and a virtual robot is being offered at this exhibition.

Symposia are participated in by this year's award-winners and adjudicators of each division. While discussing the trend of entries this year and listening to the award-winners' comments on their own works, the jury summarize the Japan Media Arts Festival 2004 division by division and report on the "present" of media arts.
