A great diversity of visual works of art, entertainment and animation were shown. About 120 pieces from visual works selected in each Division at the Japan Media Arts Festival this year, excellent works ranging from the Animation Division of Computer Graphics Contest for Students, to films from overseas media art festivals were on screen in the 1st Floor Hall.

Theatrical films such as MOBILE SUIT Z GUNDAM - Heirs to the Stars -, Fullmetal Alchemist Conqueror Of Shamballa, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, and NEGADON - the Monster from Mars were screened full-length and many screenings had full house audiences through the festival period. The event is also growing as a film festival.
??????????
[NEGADON - The Monster from Mars]
This picture of full computer graphics by an independent artist was overwhelming. At the presentation, uncompromising to anything from a view of the world to delineation of characters, the audience let out an exclamation.
[City of Crocodiles]
In the image of changing city, shadows of people straying at a quick pace, disquieting music. The work highlighted insubstantiality and commercialism calmly.
[KOTATSUNEKO ]
With the theme music with metallic taste, viewers will be amazed at the impressive camera work which was impossible to think from the perspective in which a cat is sitting in a KOTATSU, a small table with an electric heater underneath and covered by a quilt. It was a work which makes one think of the diversity of the Art Division.
[YOSUI TRIBUTE]
There were a lot of people who found themselves pausing at the music. Listening to the songs of INOUE Yosui covered by various artists, the audience was immersed in a world of weird clockwork-mechanism music box computer graphics.
[GHOST IN THE SHELL STAND ALONE COMPLEX The Laughing Man]
The entire audience gazed with riveted attention upon a story which had a complicated structure and with a perfectly created interpretation of the world.
[Media Art in the World]
Visual works from overseas media art festivals were on screen. Not only works of animation, but also works from a wide range of genres such as a documentary film which recorded an installation, etc. were introduced.
