Interactive art
Artist: Sonia CILLARI
(the Netherlands)
A performer stands on the floor housing a sensor and plays the role of an antenna. An interactive work where CG images on the screen and sound will change when an audience member touches or goes near the performer. As if we were watching the performer’s body sensations.

Sonia CILLARI
Born in Italy, 1970. She has been interested in researching the "Body as Interface," invited to various Artist in Residence programs in Europe. Her interactive installations, which intersect with architecture and performance art, have been exhibited and awarded internationally.
I feel especially honored because this recognition comes from Japan, which has always fascinated me. This work shows that the boundaries of self extend beyond our skins. I was interested in what 'skin consciousness' is, and how presence, proximity, and touch can redirect the way we understand our selves and others. Essential to me is redefining how we understand interaction in contemporary art and I used interactivity to explore experiences of extension.
The north pole and the south pole of a pair of magnets attract each other and the same poles of two magnets repel each other. The field created by magnets causes such actions. This is true not just for magnets. Every man generates a “field” in the space around him. When a stranger comes close to the “field,” it reacts with high sensitivity. This work visualizes the reaction of the “field” created by people approaching each other with brilliant space representation using the human body itself as an interface. This work is a superb piece, also, of art.
