A presentation of prizes
Works of excellence are solicited and awarded in the following four divisions:

<Art>
Works of art employing digital technology.
(Interactive, Installation, Visual Image [including Animation], Still Image, Web Work, etc)

<Entertainment>
Works of entertainment employing digital technology.
(Game, Electronic Play Equipment, Visual Image [VFX, CM, etc], Character, Web Work, etc)

<Animation>
Animation employing traditional methods or digital technology.
(Long Animation, Original Video Animation[OVA], Short Animation, etc)

<Manga>
Manga works.
(Story Manga, Frame Manga [Four-frames, Panel Cartoon, etc], On-line Manga,
Independent Manga, etc)


One Grand Prize, four Excellence Prizes and one Encouragement Prize are awarded in each division.

Grand Prize:
Certificate (Minister of Education, Science, Sports, Culture Prize), trophy, 600,000 yen prize money
Excellence Prize:
Certificate (Minister of Education, Science, Sports, Culture Prize), trophy, 300,000 yen prize money
Encouragement Prize:
Certificate (Minister of Education, Science, Sports, Culture Prize), trophy, 150,000 yen prize money

*For those who have made a distinguished contribution to the Japan Media Arts Festival, the Achievement Prize will be awarded by the contribution of the Jury Committee.

Exhibition of Award-winning Works
The National Art Center, Tokyo
(From Wednesday, Feb. 6th to Sunday, Feb 17th, 2008)
Display and screening of about 170 Award-winning works and other outstanding media works submitted to the competition, selected from total of 2,091 works from 43 countries and regions.

Symposia

- Award-winners Symposia
Symposia will be held featuring the Award-winners and critiques in each division.
- Theme Symposia
Symposia attended by artists, educators and academics related to media arts.
