event report
This is a report on the 13th Computer Graphics Contest for Students and the 4th Collaboration on Animation Films with Students from Asia. The two events, which were organized by the 2007 [11th] Japan Media Arts Festival, were held simultaneously.

Collaboration on Animation Films with Students from Asia

Again this year, students from Asia studying in Japan and students from Japan met in a workshop called Collaboration on Animation Films with Students from Asia. It was held to enable international exchange and communication between students through collaboration on an animation film.

As in the past, the event invited Mr. NAKAYA Hide as director and Mr. ITO Yuichi and Mr. KON Satoshi as lecturers on the basis of hand-drawn animation. With ideas suggested by Mr. NAKAYA, the works reflected a greater awareness of Asia this year. Mr. Sunplaza Nakano Kun of Bakufu Slump offered an original piece of music titled ASIA2008ASA taking Asia as its theme, and students created an animation film to go with the music. It was the first workshop to try to fuse full-blown music and visual images since the start of Collaboration on Animation Films with Students from Asia.
