A presentation of prizes
Works of excellence are solicited and awarded in the following four divisions:

<Art Division>
[Interactive, Installation, Visual Image, Still Image (including digital photograph), Web Work, etc.]

<Entertainment Division>
[Game, Electronic Play Equipment, Visual Image (VFX, CM, etc.), Character, Web Work, etc.]

<Animation Division>
[Long Animation (Movie, TV, Original Video Animation), Short Animation, etc.]

<Manga Division>
[Story Manga, Frame Manga, Web Manga, Independent Manga, etc.]


One Grand Prize, four Excellence Prizes and one Encouragement Prize are awarded in each division.

Grand Prize:
Certificate (Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Prize), trophy, 600,000 yen prize money
Excellence Prize:
Certificate (Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Prize), trophy, 300,000 yen prize money
Encouragement Prize:
Certificate (Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Prize), trophy, 150,000 yen prize money

*For those who have made a distinguished contribution to the field of Media Arts, the Achievement Prize will be awarded by the contribution of the Jury Committee.

Exhibition of Award-winning Works
The National Art Center, Tokyo
(From Wednesday, Feb. 4th to Sunday, Feb 15th, 2009)
Display and screening of about 170 Award-winning Works and other outstanding media arts works selected from total of 2,146 works submitted from 44 nations and regions.

Symposia will be held featuring the Award-winners and the Jury members in each division.

Symposia attended by artists, educators and academics related to media arts.
