The 2009 [13th] Japan Media Arts Festival will be held from Wednesday, February 3, 2010 to Sunday, February 14, 2010 at The National Art Center, Tokyo.
The exhibition will include approximately 180 award-winning works and jury-recommended works of art, animations, films, games, web works, manga and others selected from among 2,592 entries from 54 nations and regions. Apart from many works that audiences can actually touch and experience, there will be various symposia where award-winners and jury members participate as well as presentations in which artists from Japan and abroad talk about their own works. Our aim is for the Festival to be a kind of "live" event, where visitors can experience what media art really is.
Further, there are various events scheduled throughout the exhibition period. There is an exhibition of award-winning works from the Computer Graphics Contest for Students. The Leading Edge Technology Showcase introduces new representation technologies. Media Arts in the World introduces overseas media art festivals. Students MV Collaboration is a workshop where students create a music video together. Technoclasm Cyber Arts Japan/Ars Electronica 30 Years for Art and Media Technology will be held at Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.
The Exhibition and presentations will be held at the exhibition hall on the 2nd Floor, and Symposia and Screenings will be held at the Auditorium on the 3rd floor. Please check the Festival Guide for more information.
