Reconstructing Mayakovsky

Inspired by the Russian Futurist poet Vladimir MAYAKOVSKY, this hybrid media novel imagines a dystopia where uncertainty and tragedy have finally been eliminated through technology. The text is accessed through various “mechanisms”: a soundscape of audio podcasts, an archive with a real-time Google image search function, a manifesto, an animation, and “mechanism b” which presents ten randomly chosen words with frequencies. Employing a Futurist/Dada aesthetic, the site privileges ready-made code, ‘found’ objects and thought games over high-tech wizardry. Collaborative artist: Cloudred STUDIO, NYC
