In ZONE 3: Watch Sound, there was a built-in theater with screenings of music videos and live performance videos in which music and images were combined with messages, and animations in which sound design evoked a strong impression of the world contained in the work. Using this concept, we set up a mini-theater with about 50 seats at the very back of Arena21. Every piece of music has its own story. In this zone, music videos, promotion videos, live performance videos and short animations that use music and images to present and express such stories were screened as OTO Selections, chosen from the works of the Japan Media Arts Festival. By showing these works, which feature synergetic effects of presentations that incorporate music, this zone focuses on the relationship between sounds and images. This zone enables us to feel diversity of expression, and gives us the chance to see and experience by making use of both our visual and auditory senses.
